About Us

NGO RAHI

RAHI has been working in India for over 7 years, focusing on ending poverty and social injustice.

We do this through well planned and comprehensive programmes in health, education, livelihoods, and disaster preparedness and response. Our overall goal is the empowerment of the under privilege, women, and marginalized communities leading to improvement in their lives and livelihoods. RAHI has already had a school which creates awareness about formal/informal method of education at North-East region. Why Women and Poor? In India, RAHI focuses on the empowerment of women and the Poor because they are disproportionately affected by poverty and discrimination; and suffer abuse and violations in the realization of their rights, entitlements, and access and control over resources. Also, experience shows that, when equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities overcome poverty, marginalization, and social injustice.

NGO Rahi work is concentrated in the fields of Education, Health and Community Development which we believe are the areas of greatest need and deserve to be the foci of our attention. We believe the three are inter-related fields and together the only way to make a sustainable and impactful difference in the beneficiary population. We work for the upliftment of the poor and destitute by helping them achieve socio-economic independence, self-sustainability and health. We do everything from providing educational and health services to the needy, mainstreaming marginalized street children, making low-literate youth employable and empowering women. We help those in need with full respect, love and commitment, with the aim to not deliver charity but to empower them to better their own lot. NGO Rahi is the only full-spectrum grassroots NGO in India providing services spanning the development of Education,Child Right, Women Protection, Health and Community Development and thus able to provide a comprehensive path from poverty to prosperity and fully empower the destitute to tread it successfully.

Upliftment is a necessity in this time of heightened consciousness, and we can’t expect to uplift the rest of the planet if we aren’t in an uplifted state of mind ourselves.

How can we help the rest of humanity if we can’t feel the good vibration that helps us thrive in such a difficult and painful world? Despite all of the awful things that happen on this planet every day, it’s important to allow ourselves to be as positive and uplifting as we can because we’re here to raise the planetary vibration and we can’t do this if we’re too down in the dumps. We can’t do anything helpful or significant if we’re too busy feeling low all the time, so let’s look lowness in the face and boldly proclaim that it can’t stay. We won’t let it continue to stop us from doing everything we’re on the earth to do, and instead, we’re going to soar with the understanding that it can’t and won’t bring us down. In order to do this, we’ll have to see the importance of strength to the new world we want to create. People living in poverty are exceptionally vulnerable to crime, abuse, and exploitation. If they do not have the ability to take real and effective recourse against these actions, then impunity and inequality are perpetuated, and their vulnerability is exacerbated. Effective and accessible justice systems can be tools to develop progressive jurisprudence on economic and social rights - mandating the provision of affordable housing, or by remedying their exploitation by powerful public or private actors.

Touching hearts. Lifting spirits. Changing lives. These actions embody the essence of the RaHi Development & Empowerment programs, and the initiatives within them, while we strive to make a real difference in “improving the lives of women, youth and the communities in which we serve.” women empowerment has gained acceptance in development dialogue the world over. There is an acute need among the poor for credit, both for consumption and production, which often forms the declining line between survival and succumbing to poverty. For Women to become a successful entrepreneur, she needs access to capital, technical and managerial know-how, and market. Women are critical for the development process. Still yet to understand. Rahi, as the same name signifies, is a new direction taken by members. Rahi was conceived with the realization that the young adults at Rahi have to be equipped with skills to adapt appropriately to the needs of adulthood and thereby function as an independent whole-physically and emotionally. The program aims at creating an infrastructure, which ensures smooth graduation from school to the outside world, for the young adult and the family. It also aims to ensure training and placements of the young adults in various vocations and organizations. This can either be done independently in the residential center or by associating with various sheltered workshops and training institutions.
